No changes from 2022 to 2023 but there is a heading error in the rule book on Page 72. The same error also appears in the index on Page 5.

It reads: BLOCK AND INTERLOCKING ROUTE SIGNALS (803 TO 849)
It should read: BLOCK AND INTERLOCKING SIGNALS (803 TO 849)

To enable a subscription you first need to sign up. If you haven't already signed up, click here to do so: https://signalquiz.com/index.php?action=signup

After you have signed up, log in to the website and do the following:


  • Click your Profile link in upper left corner of the page, then click Subscriptions.
  • Under All Access/Cost, choose either monthly or yearly from the dropdown menu.
  • Click the Order button. Then click Order with PayPal and follow the prompts.

    Once your order has been submitted you will receive a confirmation e-mail, and the 'Preview now!' links will automatically be replaced with regular, full practice links!



Note: You do not need a PayPal account to complete a non-recurring transaction. Just uncheck the 'Make this a recurring payment' box. When you get on the PayPal screen you can click the 'Pay with Debit or Credit Card' button, enter a valid email and checkout as a guest.



If you chose recurring payments follow the prompts and create or log in to an existing PayPal account.

Recurring payments can be cancelled at any time directly through your PayPal account.

A sixty-one page NORAC Color Light Signal Guide is attached. Not sure of the origin of this file but it has some useful tips. Note that the aspects that should flash don't due to the fact that the file format is PDF. I suspect this may have originally been a PowerPoint presentation that has been saved as a PDF file.

Signal Aspects and Indications—Effective 0800, April 1, 2020 (Updated 5/1/21)


The following are the changes from the previous Signal Aspects and Indications—Effective 0800, April 1, 2020 as amended by BNSF System Order No. 37 June 1, 2020.


NAMES:

No changes




INDICATIONS:


9.1.7 Approach Restricting

Old:

Proceed prepared to pass next signal at restricted speed.

New effective May 1, 2021:

Proceed prepared to pass next signal at restricted speed. Freight trains exceeding 30 MPH
immediately reduce to that speed. (Note: Speed is 40 MPH for freight trains in PTC Full Enforcement Mode).




9.1.8 Approach

Old:

Proceed prepared to stop at next signal. Trains exceeding 30 MPH immediately reduce
to that speed.
(Note: Speed is 40 MPH for passenger and active PTC trains).


New effective May 1, 2021:

Proceed prepared to stop at next signal. Trains exceeding 30 MPH immediately reduce
to that speed. (Note: Speed is 40 MPH for passenger and trains in PTC Full Enforcement Mode).




9.1.11 Diverging Approach Medium

Old:

Proceed on diverging route not exceeding prescribed speed through turnout prepared to pass next signal not exceeding 35 MPH. (Note: Speed is 40 MPH for active PTC trains)


New effective May 1, 2021:

Proceed on diverging route not exceeding prescribed speed through turnout prepared to
pass next signal not exceeding 35 MPH. (Note: Speed is 40 MPH for trains in PTC Full Enforcement  Mode.)




9.1.12 Diverging Approach

Old:

Proceed on diverging route not exceeding prescribed speed through turnout; approach next signal prepared to stop. Trains exceeding 30 MPH immediately reduce to that speed. (Note: Speed is 40 MPH for passenger and active PTC trains.)


New effective May 1, 2021:

Proceed on diverging route not exceeding prescribed speed through turnout; approach
next signal prepared to stop. Trains exceeding 30 MPH immediately reduce to that
speed. (Note: Speed is 40 MPH for passenger and trains in PTC Full Enforcement Mode.)





Also note that on the current signal document a new PTC Track Line column has been added.
